Spaghetti Bolognese and Jam Jar Yogurt Dressing

On the menu for tonight in our Jamie’s Food Revolution cook-along:

I discovered bolognese sauce this past summer.  My soon to be sister-in-law was visiting from the UK and she prepared it for us.  It was fabulous!  We really like spaghetti in our house, but I don’t like that there is so little protein in a typical tomato sauce.  So bolognese was the perfect solution.  Lots of protein and lots of taste!  I have been looking forward to trying Jamie Oliver’s bolognese.  It was good.  It was not great.  I think the biggest problem was the celery.  It overpowered the other flavors.  I would suggest leaving it out altogether!  My sister-in-laws’ recipe on the other hand is really wonderful!  It has red wine and a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg which are surprising but so tasty.  Try either one or both and let us know what you think!

The other recipe we tried tonight was the Jam Jar Yogurt Dressing on our tossed salad.  It was good as well.  I am not really fond of yogurt dressing, but I would guess that if you generally like them, this one would make you happy.

We are inviting you to join us as we cook through Jamie Oliver’s cookbook, Jamie’s Food Revolution. Prepare one or more the recipes on this weeks meal plan, anytime before Sunday at 8pm eastern, and leave a comment on the post of that recipe and you will be entered for a chance to win a 1 year free subscription to Plan to Eat, even if you are already a subscriber!  For tonights recipes, you could also make my alternate bolognese sauce and comment and be entered into the give-away.

Happy cooking!
