I confess…
When I’m making dinner and my child asks if they can help, my heart sinks a little. Making dinner is hard enough, but walking a child through making dinner is exhausting! So, with a pang of guilt, I turn them away… and they miss out on learning a critical life skill. Sigh.
I want my kids to help, especially in the kitchen, but they lack so many basic kitchen skills that it’s way more work to have them “help”.
Well, no longer!
We reached out to Katie Kimball from Kids Cook Real Food for guidance and tips on how to get our kids into the kitchen. Katie teaches kids to cook all over the world through her online video cooking lessons and will be featured here at Plan to Eat throughout September and October in a series of blog posts that we’re calling My Kid Made This, which begins with a post asking: Why Bother Teaching Kids to Cook?
Let’s have a little fun!
To motivate us parents and celebrate a month of welcoming our kids into the kitchen, Katie has put together 9 easy-to-make recipes that are available through your Plan to Eat account. Make any one of these recipes with your child, post it to our photo contest below, and you could win our $259 prize package!
